MULTIMEDIA LEARNING
Multimedia etymologically derived from the multi (Latin, nouns), which means many, many things, and the medium (Latin) which means something that is used to convey or carry something. Said medium in the American Heritage Electronic Dictionary (1991) also interpreted as a means to distribute and present information (Rachmat and Alphone, 2005/2006)


Multimedia learning is a medium that involves text, images, movies, sound, animation to convey the message (knowledge) in the learning process. Through the multimedia learning abstract concepts can be presented in the learning process in a more concrete so that becomes easier to understand.

In creating a learning media need to be considered, whether the media will we use as a tool for teaching (presentation) to the students or we can take home point for aliases for self-learning students at home or school.

Types of multimedia learning by kegunannya there are two:

1. Multimedia Presentation of Learning : Tools of teachers in the learning process in class and does not replace the teacher as a whole. Pointers in the form of the material presented (explicit knowledge) and can be added to the linear form of multimedia film and video to enhance students' understanding. Can be developed with presentation software such as OpenOffice Impress, Microsoft PowerPoint, etc..Sample

2. Multimedia Self-Learning : learning software that can be used by students independently without the help of a teacher alias. Multimedia self-regulated learning should be able to combine explicit knowledge (knowledge that is written in books, articles, etc.) and tacit knowledge (know-how, the rule of thumb, the experience of teachers). Of course due to replace the teacher, must have feature for practice assessment, examinations and simulations including problem-solving stages. To level the complex can use software such as Macromedia Authorware, or Adobe Flash. Unfortunately this time still could not find the same level with it to opensource it. We can also use software such as OpenOffice Impress easy or Microsoft PowerPoint, as long as we want sharp and intelligent use of various animation effects and features in both software stretcher. Sample.

Although not many teachers who develop multimedia learning but teachers interested in multimedia learning is high. This can be seen from the enthusiasm of teachers to attend various seminars both regional and national level and even international level relating to multimedia learning. Number of teachers who attended a seminar about learning multimedia hopefully illustrate that teachers already interested in the development of multimedia to then be applied to the learning process in class.
